I believe that teachers are depressingly underpaid. But realistically, how much of a raise in salary do you believe would make a fair and livable wage for such a difficult job?

That is quite true. And the beginning salary should be high enough to entice a wide variety of highly educated individuals who normally wouldn't even give the profession a thought, non?
