Black-eyed peas are brown...and they look like beans...but they are not magic, unless you go with the old wives tale that eating black-eyed peas will bring you luck and turnip greens will bring you money if you eat them on New Years Day - ever heard of that?
I have lived it; last New Year's I ate turnip greens, got so sick I had to go to hospital - and they all got rich! Can you believe that?
