The first one gets the backstory to where you can feel the danger of what people are up against. I haven't been keeping up with the series, as the friend I had who would go to the Comiccons and collect the stuff from horror films isn't around any more. He once fooled me into going to see The House of 1000 Corpses, and Saw. Hey, I was gullible back in the day. People like him go to the neighborhood where the first movie was filmed in Pasadena, California.
