Quote:The gift of life
Everyday a life is given to us
and a life is taken from us
Everyday someone gets murdered
and someone gets their life back
One, two, three, four, five
The boy is counting the steps he's taking
Spent his life in a living hell
Now he's spending his life inside the institution walls
His leg is crooked, twisted 180 degrees
It looks like a golf club!
I am on the way
on a destination
What I've seen, I will never forget
Not a chance, not for a minute, ever
I'm in the winter dark
On my destination
I pass the cemetery
I hear their voices
I get to where I'm going
A woman is very sick
And it's not clear why
She got blisters and scars on her face and hands
I stood beside her
Could be my mom or my neighbours mother
She looks very stereotypical, if that's any comfort
I called the cops two times, she's HIV positive and late developed syphilis
If she doesn't get the proper treatment she might die from kidney failure
I convince myself
That I will never forget
That I will do my best
Like the poem in the cemetery
Written on marble stone
I do not wish to disturb
When I get home I walk a shorter pass
I walk across the construction site
Sometimes it's better to forget
But I'm just a man
I have responsibilities
And I do care
I do not wish to disturb
I wish the best for your babies
Your cute little stranger babies
And your picture perfect families
I will wander on, into the light
I am not afraid
And I won't die
Promise yourself to not die
Because you're not responsible
For giving life
The gift of life
