Bible Concordance: Unless you have particular interest in the translation of a specific Bible (such as King James Vervison), it is important to check the translations from two or more Bibles. The reason is that one translation may be deficient in the full richness of meaning that may be conveyed in another.

One example of variation in translations is the story of Lilith, Adam's first wife (in the tradition of Jewish lore and its predecessors). Lilith is mentioned by name in one or more translations of the Bible, but not in others.

Good point, Aa
Good point, Aa. Bible Gateway (see URL above) offers 19 choices (versions) in English alone. And, one's keyed-in references can also be had in many, many, other languages. One could spend days and days and days looking into one "item"!!! Enjoy! Smile Smile Smile [/color]

Why, thank you Aa. To be honest, I have never considered any translation but the King James, since I am not studying the bible as such, but looking for quotations. The King James version has that beautiful, poetic English.

That is an excellent point for anyone reading this thread (should there be any such) for the purposes of guidance in finding good sites for bible study.

I knew something of Lilith, and her disappearance in some translations. How interesting.

I am afraid I have not been online for some days, so have not had time to research your suggestions, but I shall do so very soon.

Thank you all once again!

Online Bartlett's quotations. If you know one word or even the subject this will bring up the quote you need.
