whenever i run ad-aware or norton after a couple minutes my laptop shuts itself off. please help thank you.
is your fan running? these things have a little kill switch that shuts you down like that . It may not be the software. Whenever that happens to me, I take the goddam laptop out behind the barn and shoot it.

i dont get it , ad-aware was running for quite some time before it shut off
Could be there are too many background apps runnin and addin' a system scan to the load is just too much for the critter - that could cause the symptom you describe. Have you tried runnin' the scan from a clean boot or in safemode with no other apps runnin' or windows open?
And even if the fan is runnin', internal dust-and-crud buildup may be reducin' coolin' airflow ... not all that uncommon with a laptop.
