I use OS XP SP1. When I try to send or receive e-mail in Outlook Express I get an error message #0x800cc0e. I went to Microsoft to read what support details may be the problem but I have no clue in what they are telling me to do to correct the problem. I use Mcafee Virus and Firewall program. Can any one help me to fix my problem. Thank you so much. Fran
Error #0x00cc0 is a calibration error. I don't know what the "e" represents specifically, but it sounds like you need to calibrate one or both systems. Did you only calibrate one initially?

Hi,
Thank you so much for your quick response unfortunately I do not know what you mean by "calibrate both systems"

Cannot Send or Receive Mail in Outlook Express
I'm sorry I wrote the Error code incorrectly. It's 0x800ccc0e.

Oh, that is different. Three 'c's goes beyond my area of expertise. PM Dlowan, she handles anything above double 'c's.
It could be that your firewall is blockin' OE, but more likely it prolly means your ISP logon info and/or other settings are either incorrect or missing altogether. Its worth a shot to see what happens if you disable your firewall (we can get into how to properly configure it later if that turns out to be the problem - but I sorta doubt thats gonna be the deal).
Generally, that error is returned as a result of a timeout due to logon info not being accepted. The first thing I'd check on receiving that error - provided I was on dialup - would be the settings for my dialup internet connection - Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections. Highlight the default connection, select "Settings", and verify that the logon info is EXACTLY as required by your ISP. Next, in Outlook Express, click Tools>Accounts>Mail, and for each account, select "Properties", then "Servers", and verify that all login and setting info is correct.
If you are unsure what the settings should be, contact your ISP's support desk. Note: your ISP logon well may be different from you email alias.
If your ISP's support desk can't sort out your problem, there are some more involved, techy-type troubleshooting steps to try, but no sense goin' there until you've confirmed through your internet provider that your settings and configurations are correct, no matter what type of connection you have.

I use Comcast as my ISP. Called them and they said there is nothing wrong on their end. Me and friend went through all my settings and everthing appears fine. I also use Mozilla as my browser. Do you think I should re-install Outlook Express?
Fran
Make sure your account is set up with the following settings:
Outbound mail server: smtp.comcast.net
Inbound mail server: mail.comcast.net
Also make sure your login is your fully qualified "
[email protected]" and that your password saved locally is the same that you use to login to the Comcast website (you can get to their Webmail I'm assuming).
Also, if you have a router set up, disconnect it, and connect your computer directly to your cable modem. Then open a browser and type this in the URL bar:
192.168.0.1
Hit enter and see what happens. If you get a login screen, try logging in with your standard Comcast userid and password. (This works for SBC/Yahoo DSL, but I'm not so sure about Comcast, worth a try though).
