Our local toy store prices its merchandise according to the owner's
whim. A doll costs $12, a kite costs $15, a skateboard costs $34 and
a ring toss costs $24. According to this system, how much will a
blackboard cost?
Well, according to your description, whatever the owner feels like, which may not follow a specific pattern.

Easy
The answer is $31......
The vowels in each word have values....
Just add them up.
ANSWER: $31 (Vowels are worth $5, consonants are worth $2 and each syllable is worth $1.)
A = 9.5
E = 3
I =12
O = 12
A+A+O =31

I know that way works, but the way I have it works also? Plus it is more logical as all parts of the words are used, not just the vowels.
I am not sure if Skateboard has 2 or 3 syllables.
If 2, your way works great.
