Thanks a lot! I hope someone can help me.
i understand that the insurance company pays you for what their adjuster tells them the repair will cost .
you are not forced to have the car repaired , you can keep the money and keep driving your banged-up car , i believe - and many drivers sem to do that .
it really works both ways . if the insurance company estimates that the repair will cost more than the "blue book" value of the car , they'll simply pay you the blue book value . i don't think they are forced to pay the actual repair cost for an old clunker that you think is worth a lot of money - "it was my grandfather's car - sentimental value" .
my agent told me , i would have to pay an extra premium if i wanted to ensure an older car for more than "replacemant" value .
insurance companies don't usually pay more for a car that may be ten years old , but that you claim "runs just like new" - to them it's a TEN YEAR OLD CLUNKER !

I've often wondered why the insurance company made the check out to the insured and the repair shop. The repair shop didn't pay the insurance premiums.
we'll need ebeth in here , methinks .
