The sunset betrays candid clouds,
Casting shadows of color among the soft white.
Emblazing colors emerge from the clear ocean,
Deluding the sanctity of the sea.
Blue. Red. Green.
Shattered glass lay smoothed by the falling sea.
Broken emotion.
Painted bottles with paper notes travel in the waves.
Bringing vivid messages of love, longing, and hope.
An array of painted shells litter the seashore,
Leaving unpretentious gifts for those in need.
The purity of white leads deceiving,
For colors lay washed on the sandy shores.
indecisive, Thank you for that powerful poem. I especially like your opening verse. It caught my imagination immediately. Hope to see more of your poetry here on A2K.
Great poem, I love the picture it painted
Hi Indecisive8,
I like this one quite a bit.
You depict this quite vividly, with vibrant hues that walk and sometimes dance on water.
Yet I feel there is much more that lies submerged...
Sound and fury are given to the purging sea
as our glassine dreams
are drowned and submerged in lunacy...
Poseidon idly turns the tide,
leaving us the detritus of our lives.
All the hues of our emptiness,
were tempest tossed upon the chaos
of a looming sea.
Ruefully, Listlessly
we gather the driftglass,
as our passion pales to pastels
our ranting fury murmurs
as an abandoned seashell.
All our seafaring cares
are spurned by the turning tide.
The sea paints our plaintive sighs
the color of a gull's cry...
Or something to that effect...
(kind of wrote myself into a corner there)
In any case your poem is a both a beautiful picture, and a lovely metaphor.
I'm glad I read this one. Thank you.
it makes a lovely vivid picture
