you also have Fiennes as the commandant in schindler's list.... these two are my fav's any Q?

I have the utmost respect for De Niro but his portrayal of the psycho in this film was nothing short of pathetic, watch the original and see the difference in acting quality.

Robert Mitchum was actually superior as the villain in the original -- one of the few De Niro performances that went over-the-top. BTW, there is a featured topic on villains in film and it seems you're interested in the same response. Welcome to A2K -- it's unwritten protocol to check the boards to see if there are any threads the same or similar as the subject one wants to post.

This prompts me to post something on the villain thread.

Don1 and LW

Only Jack Palance, (still alive) in Shane, can come even close to Mitchum's baddie in Cape Fear!

Both actors in these two movies just exude pure.... "creepiness"!

Beyond villians!
