Camp Pendleton Mud Run on June 11
I am going to be doing the Camp Pendleton mud run next month in june can someone please tell me if it requires any swimming. I logged onto the pictures and notice that people in the background are neck high in lake O'neal. Has anyone done the mudrun and can tell me for sure what to expect.
I am going to be doing the world famous camp pendleton mud run in june. I am not a good swimmer. Is swimming a requirement. I got on the mud run site and notice people in the background neck high in the water of Lake O'neal. I also thought I saw a person swimming in the far background of the picture. I thought it was a MUD RUN has anybody done the mud run and can tell me what to expect.
Re: Any1 done the mud run at camp pendleton?

Waiting on information about the mud run
Dunno how much this'll help, but I've "Been there, done that" ... around 4 decades ago, when I was in Bootcamp. As I recall, there was just a bit of swimming involved, and my time was in the 1-hour-fifteen-minute range, with the first finisher in my training company completing the course in about an hour flat (don't remember exactly - it was a long, long time ago). I do recall it was quite a challenge, and that not all the company completed the course in the allotted time, which I believe was 90 minutes. The poor sods who failed the first time around hadda do it again 'till they got it right. There were activities I enjoyed more, but the Mud Run wasn't as bad as The Log, or the full-combat-gear forced march.

Thanks for replying about the Mud Run, But I think they probably changed the Mud Run since you did it forty years ago. I was hoping someone who did it more recently can tell me how it is. I'm more concern about the swimming part. I'm not much of a swimmer. Thanks anyway
Camp Pendleton Mud Run
Mari,
I did the Camp Pendleton Mud Run last October. We did not have to swim. We did have to crawl through the final mud pit. That is likely where the pictures that you saw were taken.
The one pointer I have for newbies is, when running (or walking) through mud, try to point your toes down. This will help you pull your feet up without losing your shoes.
Have fun!!!!
MUDD Run
I have completed the MUDD Run three times, once in boots and fatigues and love it. One mention, You don't need to tape your shoes with duck tape. I see people do this all the time and it just comes off. There are people of all shapes and sizes and they all complete it. Its dificult but fun which gets you through it. Be sure to include hills in your training because you will have a constant incline for about 1 1/2 miles but after that its all good. I should mention that there is a BEER garden at the end and music and basketballs courts and food you can purchase so its a great time.
Does any one need a teammate. I sign-up too late and all the dates are sold out.
MUDD Run
forgot to mention. No swimming is involved.
