Burning CD's help me please!!!!!

I'm having trouble burning cd's. I have Windows Media Player 10, and most of my songs end with .asf like for example this song link: http://a420.v8383d.c8383.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/420/8383/3b858b51/mtvrdstr.download.akamai.com/8512/wmp/1/24322/27265_1_1_04.asf. I don't have Kazaa, or Limewire I just find the songs on www.cdzinc.com. Anyways, I put the blank cd into my cd writer on my hard drive, then I do all the instructions it say to burn the cd. But when I click on burn cd, it say inspecting, which means that before tracks are copied to your CD, they are inspected and, in some cases, converted to a file type. This process takes several minutes. So last night I have left Windows Media Player running and I woke up this morning, finding that the first song I started to burn yesterday afternoon was still inspecting. Am I doing anything wrong? Because some way you can burn cd's onto Windows Media Player. Oh yeah, I have already read the instructions on how to burn a cd using windows media player

I'm not a techy but I think you're stuck in A Microsoft nightmare. asf, I thought was mostly for videos...but seems to be for music too.
I never use WM player for music...it's retarded

"The Advanced Systems Format (ASF) is the file format used by Windows Media. Audio and/or Video content compressed with a wide variety of codecs can be stored in an ASF file and played back with the Windows Media Player (provided the appropriate codecs are installed), streamed with Windows Media Services or optionally packaged with Windows Media Rights Manager."

If I were you I'd download Music Match jukebox and deal with mp3's and wave files.
I've been using MM jukebox for 5 years and it's really slick. You can even design and print jewel cases and CD labels

You can't burn it to CD because you don't have the file to begin with. The link you provided is to an audio stream - not a file.

To record the music to CD you'd need to capture the file to your local hard drive and then copy it o a CD.

Click on a song link from the site you mention. When Media Player opens, right click on the song title in the "Now PLaying List" and then select "Add to...". You'll notice that "Burn List" isn't an available option.

I'm probably not! lol I understand how the technology works but I don't use any file sharing programs. I just borrow CD collections from friends and rip everything they have to my HD and then eventually burn them all to DVDs. I probably have 40 or 50 DVDs full of MP3 files.

I toyed with Kazza when it first came out but found most of the files out there to be very low bit-rate and just never went back to trying.
