I want to create a site with a fixed header and sidebar(the easy part) with links to external sites, that when clicked are opened within the page of the exisiting page - ie, not a pop up. What is the term to describe this event and how is it coded? Will pop -up blockers prevent this from openeing? Many thanks

You may be talking about a frame. Any decent HTML book can explian how to use them.

They're considered a bit gauche nowadays though.
