Should Temple fire John Cheney ?

I say without question.

So far John Cheney the Temple University basketball coach seems to have gotten off lightly. A 3-game suspension for intentionally and admittingly sending a player into a game for the sole purpose of inflicting bodily harm.

In many ways this seems worse to me than the Ron Artest incident particularly because it is perpetrated by a man who is held up to young people as an educator.

This is the same coach who 10 years ago threatened to kill another coach at a press conference, last year said he'd like to take a baseball bat to his own players knees and recently challenged someone to step outside at a Bush presidential rally.

And where is the NCAA in all of this? Worrying about a coach buying a player a cheeseburger!

Nah. He's earned a free pass in my book. Maybe he should resign, but he should definitely not be fired.
