I need help removing searchweb2.com from my IE

Reply Thu 24 Feb, 2005 06:01 pm
Hi,
I have followed the steps outlined by timberlandko to try to remove searchweb2 from my IE browser, to no avail. My system did not show to have TwainTech on it and after running the Windows Update, Stinger, Trend Micro, CoolWWWSearch.SmartKiller removal tool, CWShredder, AdAware, Spybot, system defrag, and deleting files from my browser and setting everything to the default, I still have the searchweb2.com blue toolbar at the bottom of my screen. I have the created the log from HijackThis after I performed all of the above. It would be much appreciated if I could get some help in removing this. Thank you very much!

From the last post, I checked all 8 items in HJT and clicked "Fix Checked", then restarted
my computer in Safe Mode and searched for the for the following:

for Platform.exe which I found and removed in:
* C:\DOCUME~1\STEPHA~1\APPLIC~1\ACEFLA~1\for platform.exe
* C:\DOCUME~1\RYANBR~1\APPLIC~1\ACEFLA~1\for platform.exe
* C:\DOCUME~1\MICAH~1\APPLIC~1\ACEFLA~1\for platform.exe
After completing a scan of 'for platform' if also found it located in C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch
as for platform.exe-08B2DAD0.pf and platform.exe-146E2FP1.pf as well as in C:\RECYCLER\*.
I have not removed these.

htm glue.exe which I found and removed the executable file then deleted the folder IsoStyle
* C:\DOCUME~1\STEPHA~1\APPLIC~1\IsoStyle\htm glue.exe
* C:\DOCUME~1\RYANBR~1\APPLIC~1\IsoStyle\htm glue.exe
* C:\DOCUME~1\MICAH~1\APPLIC~1\IsoStyle\htm glue.exe

FACE ENC MODE.exe which I found and removed the executable file:
* C:\DOCUME~1\STEPHA~1\APPLIC~1\ACEFLA~1\FACE ENC MODE.exe
* C:\DOCUME~1\RYANBR~1\APPLIC~1\ACEFLA~1\FACE ENC MODE.exe
I was unable to find FACE ENC MODE.exe in the other 2 locations that were listed,
C:\DOCUME~1\MICAH~1\APPLIC~1\ACEFLA~1\FACE ENC MODE.exe and C:\PROGRA~1\ACEFLA~1\FACE ENC MODE.exe;
however, I did find it in C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch. As above, I did not remove this.

MSConfig45.exe
I could not find this executable file.

Below are the logs after the above was completed. I looks like I now have an unwanted file
Cast Joy balm lite.exe which is also located in the folder for each user on my computer ACEFLAWFIRST.
I did not remove this folder earlier because there were more applications in it for each user other
that FACE ENC MODE and for Platform. Should this folder be deleted from all users?
