Hi, is there any software out there than can be used to convert both audio and video to as many file formats as possible? I use a wide variety of file formats but I have a lot of trouble finding applications that can convert .MOV files in particular to .MPEG/.WMV files. And I'd like it to do audio files as well to eliminate the need for two applications.
Thanks.
WinAvi Video converter. it convert audio and video. it convert pretty much everything to everything, not only AVI files.
thanx bubble -- i've been looking for something to convert BMP's to JPG's...
(for some unknown reason XP home edition doesn't come with MS photo editor, which i use at work...)
i dont have photo editor either.. but paint converts
go to start > accesories > paint
adobe photoshop is great to have, but if it is only in purpose of converting files, paint works fine
RP, take a look at
IrfanView ... free, no yuckware (when you install it, unclick the eBay searchbar if ya wanna - but its essentially innocuous, and appears only in Irfanview windows anyhow), has a small footprint, lotsa capabilities, and is fairly intuitive to use. Its long been my favorite "quick and easy" graphics editor, and is my default graphics display app. It has its limitations, but for lotsa common, simple stuff, its generally quicker and easier to use than more sophisticated commercial apps.
thanx timber -- i'll check it out...
RP, no version of Windows comes with MS Photo Editor, but it does come with some editions/versions of Office.
right, that would explain why i have it at the office
My digital camera produces .MOV video clips. I have been using Vegas Movie Studio (do not get confused with Vegas Video) it does just about everything video that I need it to do, however, you will have to buy this one.
BTW, I wrote to Microsoft asking them to add the .MOV file format to their Windows Movie Maker...that was a while ago and no reply.
Dunno as Microsoft is likely to get real excited about supportin' the .mov file type - that's Apple's own Quicktime proprietary format.
I knew that....I was just hoping.
.MOV, being a proprietary Apple Quicktime format, is something I doubt Microsoft would be too interested in promoting by adding support for it, even if they were able to get Apple to license it to them. Besides, Microsoft's homegrown WMV movie format is easily among the very best in the industry.
Edit: Ah, hadn't yet seen Timber's responce.
