Squinney, I was in NC a couple years ago for Easter and the dogwood, wisteria, and azaleas were fabulous. Are you in western NC or closer to the coast?

We had our first thunder storm last night. It was 75 degs yesterday before the storm and only in the 40s today. T-storms are another good sign of spring.

...and we have thousands of butterflies swarming around -
unbelievable! Might be due to hot desert winds and high
temperatures, but I've never seen anything like it.

CJ - I think it was due to the excessive rainfall the SW has seen over the last couple of months. Or, so I think I've heard.

I saw a bee today!

The bears are awake. I'm not sure which bear came calling last night--black bears after dark all look alike--but the critter was hungry enough to raid the compost/mulch.

We saw deer last night!! I really didn't expect it -- we're pretty urban here, though there are greenspaces nearby. Just walking along the sidewalk, eating our neighbors' flowers.

Deer I can deal with. Bears, no way!

We're close to the river, so we get the occasional raccoon and possum as well as many fly-over birds including great herons and eagles. Saw a rabbit in the backyard last night! Wondered if it was Benny. (That's what we named the wild baby bunny who grew up under our deck last year.) It's amazing how much wildlife exists in the heart of the city.

The May apples and red trilium are pushing up. They're in the woods, not in the garden so I count them as a sign of spring. Also, I bought my first load of charcoal for the Weber, a sure sign of spring.

Very beautiful, Francis. I am in awe of your gardens and the beautiful stone and brick backdrops. Each picture gave more surprises as I scrolled over to the right to see the other side. Thank you for sharing.

That indeed looks wonderful Francis.
You just stick the flowers in the wall with some soil?

Here are some of my Oranges. I hope the coyotes
won't get to it as in past years....

This day...what can I say about this day...it was the perfect spring day...I mean PERFECT! Perfectly sunny skies, light breeze,
temp in the mid-70's...holy ****, I love EVERYTHING today! I went to the park, found a nice shady spot under a tree on the grass,
and just sat there. I was just watching all the people and thinking about what a blast I had last night at the bars, and just basically
being happy that winter is finally REALLY COMPLETELY F*CKING OVER!!! Yes!!! I love this weather!!!

By the way, does anyone know what kind of tree this is in this picture? I don't know nothin' 'bout trees 'n' ****.
