Hi el.geologist and welcome to A2K
You have posted in the correct forum.
Need you to do a few things here please,
First download this LSPFix unzip it to your Desktop, Don't do anything with it.

If you can not connect to the Internet after removing New.net, Please run the LSP-Fix program I had you download earlier, and click on the finish button. Reboot and you should be able to get back on.

Run the removal tool and reboot,

Next,
Go to Add/Remove programs search for and remove:
Viewpoint Manager
LogitechDesktopMessenger
Next

Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click "Fix Checked"

Thanks Don. I went through the steps you suggested with relative ease. No trouble connecting to the internet after the New.net removal, and everything else went just as smooth. Here's the new log:

I hope I didn't miss anything...none of the O18's were around after my removing the Ligitech Desktop Messenger from my Add/Remove programs menu. Also, I was unable to find the C:\WINDOWS\System32\vnmispoisn_downloader.exe on the HiJackThis log. Did I miss something? Thanks again for your help.

Looks good now. How is it running ?
Download the following programs, For keeping crap off your system to begin with
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests. Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox. Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Download Spyware Blaster and SpywareGaurd
Check for updates after you install them, And check weekly as well
Keep Ad-aware and Spybot handy, Check them for updates and run them weekly
Same with your Anti Virus,

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.

Remeber to Check Windows for updates

Probably a good time to create a new restore point See Here Name it clean or something like that.
