Could anyone please explain a step by step procces of building a candle?
Thanks!
Depends on the type of candle you want to make.
First you'll need a wick, not just string.
Then you'll need to decide on the wax, parafin or otherwise, and the scent (usually and oil) and or colour wax, sometimes old crayons work well when tinting clear wax. If you choose to do several colour stripes wait for wax to set before adding next layer.
You must heat up the wax - depending on the type, to the desired temperature and pour it into a desired shape eg. tin can, glass receptical.
Place the wick dead centre of container, weigh it down with a penny or a small dab of wax. Tie up the top end around a skewer balanced at the top of the container to keep the wick straight.
Heating the container will release the candle once set or is in the case of the glass container you may wish to keep it as is.
You may also want to dip your candle. This is a repetative action, but you must wait between dips to ensure the candle forms properly.
Hope this helps.
I love the ones that are made with ice cubes as well... It comes out with this cool swiss cheese effect!
Here's a link for candlemaking. Also soap making.
