@tsarstepan,
Happy Valentine's Day, Sweethearts Are Dead
Quote:
New England Confectionary Company—Necco, formerly the maker of Sweethearts—folded in July 2018, ending a 100-plus year reign over the conversation heart market. Although the Spangler Candy Company purchased Necco's corpse (certain parts of it, anyway) in September, the new parent company did not get its **** together in time to fulfill staggering Sweethearts demand.

Necco Wafers returning to store shelves after 2 year hiatus

One of America’s original candy treats is returning to store shelves this summer under new
management after taking a two-year hiatus.

Just when the nation could use a little bit of nostalgia, the Spangler Candy Company announced
Thursday that the fan-favorite treat will hit major drugstores in June and then a larger number
of retailers later in July.

“We know fans have been waiting anxiously for the return of Necco Wafers and anticipate high
demand. Our production lines will continue to run as fast as possible to keep stores in-stock,”
said CEO Kirk Vashaw in a statement.

@Region Philbis,
I have enjoyed the wafers about a time or two every four or five years. They aren't bad.

@tsarstepan,
they better get rid of that plaster taste and replace it with some real fruit , cinnamon, or ginger flavors, chocolate'd be good too, as would spearmint.
maybe add some vitamin d3

@farmerman,
That's a great idea farmer.

Revamp the entire line with flavors that are actually edible.

@chai2,
Cardboard is edible.

Isn't it?

@roger,
better a meal of cardboard than a dish of Necco Wafers. Cannot abide them. I remember one Easter as a kid I got some Necco Wafers as an Easter Basket candy. I used em as bb gun targets. I was a very good shot at "point and shoot" shotgun style

A clever new wasteless alternative to paper or plastic bowls. Make plates and bowls out of Necco Wafers. The consumer can either compost the bowl or plate after using it one time or eat it (in lieu of throwing paper or plastic bowl in the trash).

They tried to kill the Twinkie, too. Justice For Junk is the organization that is needed today.
