me must avoid confusing francis with "kirsch" of various kinds. perhaps we should offer him a nice calvados, or better still francis can bring the the finest french calvados.
when i was still "gainfully" employed i had to make visits to montreal on occasion. i recall that the company lawyer knew a wonderful restaurant in old montreal that served some great quebecois food, and to finish lunch he would always order some calvados (his expense account was quite generous, and i always appreciated the lawyer's way of celebrating the completion of a legal case - whether won or lost, the lawyer always won !). hbg

"Francis doesn't get easily confused " - you probably didn't offer him enough calvados !
i seem to recall that when we finished lunch, we couldn't remember whether the case had been won or lost; but the calvados sure lingered on our palates !hbg

cj, if you ever get a chance, eat the german Nutella,
it tastes better than the american version.

My daughter doesn't like it (thank God Laughing )

What is the difference? I'd be willing to bet the German version has less sugar.

This is really off topic but I have some "Chipotle Salsa" from Safeway, which is good, but I detected a strange sweetness. Sure enough, there in the ingredients, the dreaded "high fructose corn syrup". WTF?

Not only has it less sugar, you can taste the hazelnuts
more. Somehow it's just creamier and better tasting.

Sounds good. I also really like natural peanut butter, but the salted kind.

Lately I've been indulging in the high cocoa content dark chocolate bars, like Lindt's 85% Excellence. Mmmmmmmm.

not that it has anything to do with chocolate, but ... when we visit germany we always buy several tins (yes, 'tins' not jars) of NIVEA handcream. we find that the NIVEA sold in north-america is just not the same as the german kind. for a while we could buy large jars of NIVEA(900 grams) from mexico here in canada and it was quite good. since we just finished the last 'tin' of german nivea (bought two years ago), we made the mistake of buying walmart's 'equality', but found it has no 'quality' in the 'equality' - yuk ! hbg

My whole life, all I ever used is Nivea. As child the blue
tin jar and now the moisturizer and lotion. IT's still the best!!

They set up the May-pole here today. (Most surely, because I'm at the A2K meeting in London next weekend, and we have another meeting here in a fortnight. )
