walter : that's a great picture from the dining room of the "hotel hinteler" . the waiter seems to be missing in the picture(when we travel and i take a picture of mrs h at the breakfast or dinner table, i find that the waiter often offers to take the picture. i usually ask the waiter to stand right behind mrs h so that she/he can be included in the picture. pretty well all the time they are happy to oblige and i have managed to get some really nice pictures that way). btw. in the centre of the breakfast table sits something that looks suspiciously like some nice slices of "westphaelischer schinken" ?
since we went for our weekly shopping at our danish deli, we also had some nice slices of "schinken" but not"westphaelian" on our brekfast table ,,, and also some slices of "geraeucherte ochsenzunge" - which we cannot get very often. hope there is some left for tomorrow morning ! hbg

That one on the table was either Spanish Serrano or Italian Parma

Depends on, panzade - 'Landschinken' is a general term.

what, no "westphaelischer schinken" in westphaelia ? (when i grew up italian ham/salami was viewed with suspicion in hamburg. the claim was that itialian ham/salami must surely be "esel- fleisch" - i.e. "donkey meat" - hope no one is taking offense; it was a long time ago). hbg

No, sorry - those you get here now are mostly "fabric made" = riped to fast.

And the real good ones are either too expensive or only to be found accidentally.

The picture must have a .jpg ending or .gif aidan.

Take your picture from webshots and drag it over to your
hard disc. Then you use the domaindlx. website
and upload it.....

Since some can't come to the meeting at my place in two weeks, since it really looks pretty, especially in springtime, I'll post some photos here.

All were taken two days ago [Nikon F 80, with Sigma lenses (17-35mm f2.8-4 / 28-70mm f2.8 / 70-200mm f2.8 )] within a range of 5 minutes walking from our apartment.

This is the closest to our's: our local 'Kur Theater':

http://img241.echo.cx/img241/4136/kurtheaterfrhling3kf.th.jpg

(Bad Waldliesborn is a so-called 'Kurort'. A Kurort is a resort for preventative medicine, recovery, and/or cure. Bad Waldliesborn is a thermal spa. Going to a spa or Bad is also covered by [Austrian and German] health insurance plans. A doctor may prescribe eine Kur.)

Until about 50 years ago, people stayed in houses like those below for their Kur:

http://img241.echo.cx/img241/3401/villenfront5mq.th.jpg

105 years ago, some people tried to find coal here, a place with just a couple of farms. But instead of 'black gold' they found a couple of salty, but healthy sources.

On the photo below, you can see one of the pumphouses and a half a 'Headgear Pulley', the latter from a real coal mine in the Ruhr district.

For a cup of coffee with Schwarzwälder Kirsch or nice lunch, a dinner or just a glass of beer or wine, we can rest at various places, like this one:

Our parc isn't really famous for its flowers, but for the sculptures. Out of the more than two dozens, here are just a few

http://img241.echo.cx/img241/5632/gymnastikimparkplastik4tt.th.jpg
Of course we have a couple of flowers in the parc, as you may have already noticed, not just only 'hidden' ones like these tulpits in a stump

The former railway line from Lippstadt to Münster became our "promenade"

Yeah, thanks Jane - I'll try again later. My son's friend just came over so he's left me in the lurch and I'm ridiculously technologically challenged. I'll get my husband to help me when he gets home. I will learn how to do this though.

And thanks for posting the thread. It's a fun idea. Smile
