@sozobe,
She loves the haircut! Her braces came off in June and she hasn't stopped smiling since. (me neither, I am so glad we have that money pit behind us)

Here is another one...

I love the hair cut! Now, what about this little devil:

Her favourite sayings 3 months ago were: Welcome! and Thanks!

Now it's 'f*ck's sake' which she is apparently yelling out her bedroom window during naptime.

@Mame,
Toddlers are surprising. When my younger daughter was two, she heard me say the words WTF while I was watching a football game on TV. All of a sudden she was saying "WTF! WTF!"

@wandeljw,
LOL! I know, you really have to watch what you say when you're around them.

I always told my kids, based on the law Don't Forbid What You Can't Enforce, that they could swear all they wanted, but not around adults of kids younger than them. They thought they had a lot of power, but they weren't hurting anybody Smile

@wandeljw,
LOL. Well, now she "yikes" me. "I yike you Grandma". They certainly are funny little things. Your cousin is beautiful, by the way.

Some of you may remember, a few years ago Linkat had a thread about a gun that had been sent to her husband...as most things go around here, the thread took a few sideroads....Chai mentioned Cairo IL....and Nimh asked about it the town.....

http://able2know.org/topic/105120-3

I was in Cairo last year working on a house, and on the last day I took my little boy with me so I could show him a few things, we rode all over town, but it was raining pretty hard, so I only took one pic in the residential area, which was once filled with Victorian homes....but I took several of the downtown area. Anyway, I hate to upload pictures....was waiting until I got bored one night to do so, and I simply have not been that bored yet.....but a few min ago I ran across a website that has a few pictures that are nearly identical to what I was going to show you guys.....

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=128822

Cairo, has been in the local news many times this year...fires....I've lost count at this point, but it seems that someone is in a rush to finish the town off for good.

There have been some improvments in the city....they are trying....in the link, there is a picture of a nice stone church, taken from a grown up and blocked off street....I also have the same picture....but you can see a vast improvment, I'll post the new vs in the next post.

@Rockhead,
I was reading at a local site, and someone asked what daily life was like in Cairo, and some guy answered.....

"If you can go out and get grocerys without getting shot then you had a pretty good day."

Of course it's not really that bad there, but I laughed so hard the tears ran.

I ran across a photo of my niece and myself in Arcata back in 2001. I'm guessing it was just after New Year's. (No that's not my house!)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/ossobuco/ArcataJoandT2001240.jpg?t=1295217103

Here's a photo of myself and the doggie I doted on, and vice versa. That was also in 2001, in December, the day of my last (because it was successful) surgery for bc. My friend Bonnie the nurse came up and kept the recovery room nurses and myself in stitches and later fed me chicken soup.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/ossobuco/joandpaccoonthecouch241.jpg?t=1295217047

In that photo that I'm glad enough to look at now since it all went well and was borderline fun as I got to see Bonnie, you can see that good old house in what I used to call northnorth. The walls were undergoing my efforts to get them ready for painting in so called heritage colors. You can see through past the hallway to the next room, home of the fantastic murphy bed I've posted about on a2k previously, pulled down since there was a guest.

Here's that murphy bed -

And finally, a much earlier photo of me - in the sink - in 1975. That was when we had a gallery, studios, and living quarters in an old eagles lodge. That place had a kitchen and a ladies and mens room, sans any shower. Gallery partner used her boyfriend's place and I used friends' places or the university - most of the time. But one day, that was all too much trouble, so..
I am discreetly gowned in that sink in case anyone suddenly came in the door downstairs and rushed up the stairs.
