Hmmm... must be my new coat
I love it. The coat. On sale, too! But chic. Only thing is now it's already getting too warm for it..
Otherwise I've actually moved all the way down the line in dress and, I dunno, style and stuff... I feel a little bad about it actually. I remember, back in the late 90s, and around '00 - I was relatively comfortably off money-wise and had no real ties, so I developed a real taste for fancy clothes. We had this men's fashion shop right under our office - they knew me there, I'd always pop in, see if anything new was in. Boss, Dolce & Gabbana, and a bunch of more obscure, but less in your face, tasteful stuff - and just a coupla things that were a little more daring, like these two pants that were kind of skirt-like - I was suave man! I was the second best dressed guy in the office after the black guy from the Antilles (but it was an NGO, mind, so that was a relative feat. )
Then 2002 happened and I was thrown off course in a whole buncha ways. And at the same time I went clubbing a lot - remember the blue and then peroxide blonde hair

. It was cool but yeah - decidedly less, uh, elegant.
Now I'm here, working for this big INGO, and I remember I was so afraid that it'd be all corporate and stuff -- but it hasnt been at all, and to be honest, I've let myself go. Havent gone to the hairdressers in ages, just let it grow. I got, like, one pair of shoes and they're black sneakers - OK, they're Boss actually and I used to polish them, but now they're totally worn out. (I had this period, years ago, where polishing my shoes was like a ritual..)
All of my once fancy clothes, which I just kept on wearing, are dangerously threadbare, and practically the only new stuff I've gotten are these coupla goth style trousers I bought on visits in Holland. I like 'em, but hm. I'm glad I got my coat, cause otherwise I've really been feeling ghetto - or maybe more like, on a par with S., my Russian techie -- you know, nerds dont care much about clothes, they just put on what's on the chair.
I know it started cause I'd gotten real choosy with shopping in Holland, and then I came here three years ago and there werent really any shops I liked. And the money I had, well, I really like sitting in the grand hotel royal's coffeehouse... plus, I got my gf again now. So I kinda just forgot about clothes. I mean, like, altogether. But I'm a bit self-conscious now.
Alla that just to say, sometimes photos can be deceitful, and seem to tell a story that's pretty much inversely proportional to the real story
(Actually, alla that just to say nothing really... I'm just babbling. )
