last friday (march 23) we decided to take a little springtime-drive into the country .
even though there was still snow in the fields and ice on lake ontario , we thoroughly enjoyed our outing - no doubt helped by a nice lunch in a country restaurant .

our first stop was at the "christ church - the chapel royal" on the mohawk-tyendinaga territory .
the mohawk flag flies at the centre .

stopping for a well deserved lunch break at the "waring house"




still plenty of ice in lake ontario




stopping at the "sugar shack" on west lake ,
cool nights and mild days have made the sap rise in the maples ,
two tanker trucks carrying fresh "sap" arived while we there ,
the steam carried the sweet smell all over the place









the ferry will carry us back across the bay of quinte - a sidearm of lake ontario - to the mainland



the ferry is pushing its way through the ice



we made it !
back on mainland(the north-shore of lake ontario) - in "adolphustown"



when we get back home around four o'clock , we find that some springblooms are ready to greet us

Nice pictures everyone.

We saw this little guy in our local park, and I thought he looks so funny,
especially his ears.

Walter - I want the sweets your godson's niece is having!

Jane - What an odd little dog!

looks like what we called "ratten-bieter" = rat-biter ; sure looks ferocious !

He was very friendly though. While some kids were singing he chimed in houling away. He was just hilarious. Hamburger, I think it's a
German "Rauhhaardackel".
