Sorry to be so late to this story, cj. I'm glad everything turned out OK.

Oh, chjsa, glad they are ok. What a distressing thing.

Interesting, curve taking with steep drop offs is tricky anyway, and with some curves, some cars, some drivers. Plus with other drivers coming the other way, sometimes sloppily. Hard for the moms in this case, and the kids.. and dad.. and especially the driver.

Message from my daughter Katrina (who I miss very much):

Quote:
So it's official... I'm a Californian... I registered my car yesterday and got my new plates... the physical act of taking off my plates (or having the guy at Shell do it) and my Chicago city sticker was definitely sad and definitely made me really feel like I moved here...

Every time I see your daughter, Im just stunned by how simply pretty she is. :-)

I remember, doing that with my car when i moved to texas.
It FELT wierd to change my tags from NM to TX.
I almost felt like I was betraying NM some how.. Laughing

J_B,

The last time I said something like that, Timber comforted me by saying: "They haven't really left home if they still keep things in your basement." Smile

wandel, soon we'll see your daughter in movies - she's bound to be
discovered.

Slappy cool! Was that a race, and which brand of motorcycles?

Not a race. You pay to go ride on the racetrack. You're on the track with other riders, but you're technically not racing.

how true ! ehbeth left for university when she was 19 ; she's now slightly (!!!) older , but still keeps "a few" things in our basement . if we ever sell the house it'll have to be without basement .

No, I'm not racing. It's just that no one is ever allowed to pass me.

This is what the Chihuahuan desert looks like along the Texas/New Mexico border.

Walter's New Mexico pictures inspired the ones above.

Yesterday, we went to Carlsbad Caverns in Souteast New Mexico.

That's my daughter with her audio guide, ready to hike into the caverns.

My daughter was a passenger in a serious rollover accident while leaving Yosemite last week. The small SUV rolled at least 6 times and dropped almost 400' into a ravine. Fortunately no one was seriously injured - amazingly. I hug and kiss her every day. That's her at far right.
