"customary registration" and "indicative registration"

Hi!

I have a problem understanding some (maybe) legal terms.

I encountered them when I was reading a document about family records.

The way the husband was registered to the records was stated "customary"
and the way the wife was registered was stated "indicative."

About the "customary registration", I think I understand what it means.
But about the latter.....

Could anyone explain to me what kind of registration is the "indicative registration?"
