pumpkins are a large vegetable that grows from the lovely pumpkin tree. The pumpkin tree is a native of the Western hemisphere in the temperate regions. There are many old abandoned groves of Colonial pumpkin trees throughout New England, and there is a concered effort to identify and save these "heirloom " trees.
