I would love to be able to edit a DVD of my holiday movies, but the process seems to be extremely complicated.
I have a JVC mini dv digital camera. I can connect it to my PC via a USB lead. I have a DVD burner compatible with -R and +R etc., and a 200GB hard disk to go at.
Can Anyone help
What DVD editing software do you have? Generally, the deal is to import the video into your editing suite, figure out the clips, edits, transitions, and effects you want, assemble them into a storyboard, then burn the finished project to DVD.
I am using Pixela Image Mixer.
This seems fine at importing the video from the camera. It stores these clips as MPEG files.
I can then edit and assemble the cips into a finished project. It will then save this project as a PME file. The application will create a video cd for me, but not a DVD. Have you any idea how I can get from this finished project to burning a DVD?
Thanks
You need an app specifically for burnin' DVDs - I'd have thought one would have come bundled with your DVD burner.
I had Nero OEM suite bundled with the dvd rewriter, but this is hamstrung and offers to sell me an upgrade when I attempt to do any DVD authouring. I also have trouble importing the finished project file into Nero. If I have to buy any dedicated software to do this, would it be better to have it all integrated? or do I have to keep the editing and the DVD creation separate?

I think you can get a free 20 day demo online of showbiz dvd - I use this program a lot and it works very good.
Cheers I think i will give that a go.
Its frustrating with the Nero Stuff that you get so far into it and then it says
"sorry... no can do"
I will let you know How I get on
Keep an eye out for me at Cannes
Thanks for that link.
I did a little bit of searching and found quite a good article which deals with the process involved in capturing, editing and burning the DVD. and it also reviews and compares several integrated software packages at a range of prices. Here is the link to that page

If anyone has similar queries, this was quite informative.
I think I will have a good read of this before I make a choice.
Cheers.
