cant install downloaded progams aftre refomating PC...helppp

i reformated my hard drive because of a worm hijacking my homepage, now nuthing i download will execute. all the exe files appear as page looking documents and go to the "open with" pop-up where i click on them... whoa is me...can someone help, please
