Can I uninstall old XP installations?

I had some problems with my XP Home installation that required me to Update the XP installation but the installation failed due to a BAD_POOL_CALL system error.
Then I performed a new installation of XP home to c:\windows2 directory because a windows directory already existed.
Then I renamed the original to c:\old_windows and ran the full installation again to C:\windows. Now I have two good installations and one bad.
Is there a way to clean up the old_windows and windows2 directories as they take up a lot of disk space.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
