I am having trouble cleaning out BHO zserv.zservobj.1

Reply Sat 29 Jan, 2005 10:09 am
I have search for ways to clean out zserv and I see there are many topics relating to this adware problem. I have tried numerous times to clean this out but it pops right back in as a BHO trying to take over IE. I have SpywareGuard installed and it catches it each time it tries to take over. I have SpyBot but it does not seem to help. I have used HJT and fixed zserv, deleted every instance of zserv from regedit to no avail. There is some other file that triggers to whole thing to start over. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Here is my HJT log. Thanks.

Now zserv is not in this log because I did not allow the BHO to load.
ZSERV.DLL does exist in c:\windows directory.

Have you tried disabling System Restore before you remove this pest, its most likely this putting it back in every time.

I have done that. I think I nailed it. I found zserv.inf in a hidden directory c:\windows\inf. Once I deleted this and cleaned out the registry and deleted the dll from windows it has not returned. I also found farmmext.inf and samsat.inf and deleted those as well.

Hi ablewasiereisawelba and welcome to A2k

Please Download LSPFix and Run the Program.
Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows.
Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of inetadpt.dll ( Nothing else)
Then Reboot.

Next,
Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click "Fix Checked"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bpkwbnya] C:\WINDOWS\System32\yapqojaq.exe

Next reboot to safe mode ( By tapping the F8 key on start up) Make sure you can view all Hidden Files/Folders search for and delete the above files highlighted in BOLD

C:\WINDOWS\System32\yapqojaq.exe

Restart your computer, Post back a fresh log please

Your very welcome

Download the following programs, For keeping crap off your system to begin with
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests. Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox. Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Download Spyware Blaster and SpywareGaurd
Check for updates after you install them, And check weekly as well
Keep Ad-aware and Spybot handy, Check them for updates and run them weekly
Same with your Anti Virus,

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.

Remeber to Check Windows for updates

Probably a good time to create a new restore point See Here Name it clean or something like that,

Let us know if you have any further problems
