I was wondering if anyone knew how you long you need to be married to your husband before you child's biological father can sign over his rights. I live in massachusetts and her father is more than willing to sign over his rights to my husband but we have only been married for 7 months. Any answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no time limit as long as everyone is in agreement.

Good luck to you and welcome to A2K :-D

Talk to a lawyer.

The issue isn't how long you and your husband have been married. The issue is that if your child's biological father relinquishes rights that the child will not become a burden on the taxpayers.

As Montana says, if everyone agrees, there should be no problem.

I would check with a lawyer, but I think that there is more to this than your ex signing over his rights. Your present husband would have to legally adopt the child.
