I have adware SE, Spybot & spybot 131tx, spyware blaster, spyware guard , and CW shredder.
My question is how often is it necessary to check for updates?
Are updates even necessary if I dont download anything?
Is adware SE a good program to rely on for guarding my downloads?
Is there anything that I need/could have TO guard against programs if I download?
How often should I run these programs?
Now that I have switched from IE to Mozilla, are any of these useless?
Should I have others ?
Basically.. I just want to know how to use them to my advantage.
:-) thank you!!
Spyware removers
AdAware SE and Spybot S & D are good, I'd also recommend PestPatrol.
You need to update once a week, its necessary because. although you don't download, most sites you visit will put some form of cookie on your computer, some of these will contain spyware. I'd advise running these programs after every browsing session, or at least once a day, if you access the web daily, and always run them to check anything you do download. You don't mention if you have a firewall, this will help protect you while you are connected to the internet, I'd recommend Zone Alarm, if you are running XP the firewall included is not as good as Zone Alarm, even Microsoft admit this is true! So install ZA and disable XP's firewall, instructions can be found at ZA's site.
Hope this is useful.
that is very helpful.Thank you
I have Mcafee firewall and yeah, it sucks .
Even with it i had gotten a trojan and a few other things.
So i dont rely on it at all.
I can find zone alarm by just going to zonealarm.com? Right ? Or is it on majorgeek or some other web site?
Spyware removal
You'll find ZoneAlarm at
www.zonelabs.com. You can also find it through a search at
www.download.com.
Glad to have been of assistance.
