2016 to me was a better year for feature length documentaries. 2017 still was a solid year but not as many fell into my obsession category.

Rated 10/10:
Faces Places (2017)
Kedi (2016)

Rated 9/10:
City of Ghosts (2017)
Last Men in Aleppo (2017)

Rated 8/10:
Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story (2017)
Ex Libris: The New York Public Library (2017)
Icarus (I) (2017)
Jane (II) (2017)
Mommy Dead and Dearest (2017)
Naila and the Uprising (2017)
One of Us (IV) (2017)

As opposed to all the 10/10 rated from 2016:
Do Not Resist (2016)
The Eagle Huntress (2016)
I Am Not Your Negro (2016)
Jim: The James Foley Story (2016)
The Lovers & the Despot (2016)
Underfire: The Untold Story of Pfc. Tony Vaccaro (2016)
Weiner (2016)

And the best original narrative in a docudrama goes to...

I, Tonya

...for making her out to be the good guy. Laughing

@Kolyo,
Most of the biopics I've watched have some kind of dramatic whitewashing and creative fictionalizing of the narrative to make it into a watchable movie.

So, not sure why you would be surprised here.

Tonya Harding had an abusive (emotionally and physically) mother. Humanises her a great deal. Doesn't make the depiction a hagiography either. I'm assuming you still haven't seen the film to be able to actually give an educated opinion on the film. In the film, she comes out more like an antihero then a Disney prince/hero which your post seems to imply.
