Unlike the surface-based temperatures, global temperature measurements of the Earth's lower atmosphere obtained from satellites reveal no definitive warming trend over the past two decades. The slight trend that is in the data actually appears to be downward. The largest fluctuations in the satellite temperature data are not from any man-made activity, but from natural phenomena such as large volcanic eruptions from Mt. Pinatubo, and from El Niño. So the programs which model global warming in a computer say the temperature of the Earth's lower atmosphere should be going up markedly, but actual measurements of the temperature of the lower atmosphere reveal no such pronounced activity.

Listen to Obama carefully on this folks, I think after watching and listening to this again, it is all the more convincing to me that Obama's real goal in all of this global warming business is to break or bankrupt the energy business so that he can take it over. If you listen, he endorses the idea of coal and what the Chicoms are doing for example, he points out they are continuing to build coal fired plants, but he goes on to suggest that his cap and trade and stuff will bankrupt the coal companies "IF THEY" choose to build coal fired plants. So perhaps it would be okay if he builds them, after all he knows he cannot take coal off the table in our energy mix. Interestingly, he mentions nuclear in this video as well, so he may have something up his sleeve in regard to the government confiscating the nuclear industry's energy generation business.

So, I think Obama's real program is to take control of industry, to nationalize them, but he will be trying to use different angles and methods than some people may expect or be aware of. Take a look for example at the medical industry, the trojan horse is control of the insurance industry, by which he can weed out and eliminate the competition with a government option, or if they don't get a government option now, they can create a situation that will very soon lead to another round of calls for more legislation for it very soon, then eventually single payer government run health care.

The handwriting is on the wall in regard to Obama's politics, the guy is not honest, and he is obviously a Marxist sympathizer, and so this is the game we will have to play with this guy for as long as he is there. Of course the leftist whackos will come out of the woodwork to pooh pooh what I write here, but its because they want what his ultimate end game is. If they don't want extreme socialism as the end game, then perhaps they are just a bit naive, but I think many of the ultra leftists here do want extreme socialism, and their tactic is to obfuscate the issue and try to convince conservatives that we are all in a tizzy over nothing, that Obama is really a centrist. Anybody that believes Obama is a centrist though, is really a dummie.

@H2O MAN,
I don't know, H2OMAN, but it will say alot about the character of the country, the collective character of the citizens. It all hinges upon just how smart, how moral, and how committed we are to the constitution to have enough collective wisdom to sweep the Democrats out of power in Congress next election, then to complete the job with a new president next presidential election.

I have heard that many countries last about 200 years max, and so I have to conclude from that and from common sense that no country is here to stand forever. Usually it is the collective slippery slope of apathy and morality that leads to failure and then to bondage. There are always politicaol opportunists around, we have seen that in history, to take advantage of a vulnerable and weak population that has lost its collective will to be responsible for itself, and responsible for freedom. It takes a responsible citizenry to value and maintain liberty and freedom, otherwise it ends up a situation where a demagogue will come along and promise the world in order to gain power over a people that has lost its way. The question is can we find our collective way in time to get rid of these losers in the next election?

Ah parados, so you are saying historical data is not reliable ? So please tell me at what date the data is reliable. Are you relying on temperature data taken over one year perhaps ?

They don't practise what they preach .....
Quote:
On the heels of the climategate scandal, which has impuned much of the science the global warming faithful praise as gospel, a massive fleet of gas-guzzlers are shuttling world leaders to Copenhagen. 15,000 delegates, 5,000 reporters, 98 world leaders, and an odd assortment of movie stars are heading to Denmark to discuss a problem that may not exist.In fact, in order to warn the Earth of the dangers associated with over-consumption, travelers have rented a whopping 1,200 limos and 140 private jets. This number does not take into account the people taking public airlines, cars, trains, or ships.

If it sounds dire, console yourself with the fact that an astonishing five hybrid autos will be among those vehicles.When all is said and done, the Summit and its associated travel will have launched 40,000 tons of CO2 emissions into our fragile ecosystem. That’s more than 60 of the world’s smaller countries will produce in an entire year - combined.

As of December 20, 2007, more than 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries have voiced significant objections to major aspects of the alleged UN IPCC "consensus" on man-made global warming.

Space physicist Dr. Eigil Friis-Christensen is the director of the Danish National Space Centre, a member of the space research advisory committee of the Swedish National Space Board, a member of a NASA working group, and a member of the European Space Agency. Friis-Christensen co-authored a paper along with physicist Henrik Svensmark on Thursday, July 19, 2007, entitled "What Do We Really Know about the Sun-Climate Connection?" The paper stated, "The sun is the source of the energy that causes the motion of the atmosphere and thereby controls weather and climate. Any change in the energy from the sun received at the Earth's surface will therefore affect climate. During stable conditions there has to be a balance between the energy received from the sun and the energy that the Earth radiates back into Space. This energy is mainly radiated in the form of long wave radiation corresponding to the mean temperature of the Earth." The study continued, "From historical and geological records we know that the Earth's climate has always been changing. Sometimes such changes have been relatively abrupt and have apparently had large sociological effects." In October 2007, Friis-Christensen and Physicist Henrik Svensmark, co-authored another report from the Danish National Space Center Study concluding: “The Sun still appears to be the main forcing agent in global climate change.” (LINK) Friis-Christensen has authored or co-authored around 100 peer-reviewed papers and chairs the Institute of Space Physics. ......why conservatives are so crazed about global warming and was pleased to see so many fine explanations. Amanda Marcotte @

http://pandagon.net/index.php/site/comments/global_warming_and_the_centrality_of_irritating_liberals/

delved into the subject in depth and I think she nailed it. The reason was obvious, and right under my nose: it pisses off the liberals.

Quote:
"And boy, is it effective! Those liberals sure get steamed when they think about how reckless behavior will result in millions of unnecessary deaths. They blow smoke out their ears when you drive around in an SUV precisely to show how little you give a **** if worldwide drought creates worldwide war. They may be smarter and cooler than you, but by being a mega-watt asshole of sociopathic proportions, you gain the upper hand because you piss them off. There are a lot of ways to piss liberals off. You can be pointlessly racist or sexist. You can sniff around in people’s private lives and carry on about how vegetarians are stupid. But few things really can top the global warming denialism. The sheer magnitude of the damage that it does is so severe that it’s impossible for liberals not to get upset. And so you win!

'The whole post is well worth a read if you wonder what makes the global warming deniers tick. What makes it an unusual issue is that pissing off the liberals really is pretty much the only motivation, unlike others which have stronger cultural ties to traditional shibboleths.

"It's a temperament thing. There are people we run across in life who just hate earnestness and loathe anyone who gives a damn about anything.(They also like to hurt small animals and make fun of those less fortunate than themselves.) Most of those people join the conservative tribe. It's where they find their soul mates.

The irony of their actions speak for themselves. Al Gore does the same thing with his push for the environment.

Is that what they call 'hypocrisy?'

@kuvasz,
What makes a liberal mad? Simple answer. When you disagree with them. That is the ultimate insult, to disagree with a liberal. They will accuse you of hating them, lying, and they will then call you all manner of names. If anyone doubts this, try disagreeing with a few liberals on this forum. But it is no different in the political world, worldwide or in Washington D.C.

If a liberal cared one whit about a human life, they would not be in favor of killing their own offspring. So when anyone tries to convince you they are doing something, pushing an issue, whatever, because they care about saving lives, don't believe it.

If you do not have CO2 in your lungs, you will asphyxiate. The exchange of O2 and CO2 is based on both being present. Without both in your lungs, you can not breathe.

Right on, Okie! I couldn't have said it better!

Do the covetors, alias liberals, alias progressives, know what percent of the CO2 in the atmosphere in each of the last 100 years was put there by humans? They do not!

Do they know what percent of the global temperature is caused by the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere? They do not!

Do they know what percent of the global temperature is caused by the amount of Solar Irradiance into the atmosphere? They do not!

All they know is that the average global temperature in the last 100 years increased, while the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere increased.

Whoops! They refuse to accept the fact that the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere decreased slightly in the last 11 years, while the sun's irradiance decreased slightly in the last 11 years. Hmmmm!
