Sad I have a big big trouble, there was a blackout in my area today when I was installing my realplayer software, now I have a realplayer ICON on the desktop but when I push the botton , there's never any reaction.

Then I thought maybe I can uninstall it and download a new realplayer software, so I click on the "uninstall RealPlayer" then there's always a window popping up, it says "Uninstaller component missing(under the title: Uninstallation Error)" .

I tried using control box to remove realplayer, to no avail, no I really have no idea what to do , please help me if you know how to fix it(this kind of problem), thank you in advance!

I really can't imagine life without realplayer, it would be hell.

BTW, I'm using XP and I'm a computer idiot.

Did you try just reinstalling it without uninstalling it?

Yes , I did, all the same , I can't reinstall it, I can't remove it.

Now I think the only way out is to reinstall the whole XP op system, but I really don't want to do that. Sad

A strange situation. You can't live without RP but you've never had it?
I'll wait for backup but I would delete all the RP files and ....download Musicmatch ...lol
I hate, hate Real Player...it is so aggressive in mucking up and taking over one's computer. I got rid of it and use Win Media and Musicmatch together.

I'd have to agree that RealPlayer is crap. I stopped using it years ago. It's not worth reinstalling Windows for anyway.

Yeah, I agree with you guys some of the features are annoying(like those popping up ads), BUT for those people who like to download (usually free) audio files on the web, RealPlayer more often than not is the only option.

and when I listen to the radio on the web, RealPlayer (usually) has better connection and quality (in terms of sound). (There's always a lot of interruption when I use Winmedia)

not to mention an awful lot of websites where I can watch pay-per-view movies , Realplayer is the only software for me to use.

This might do the trick:

Email Answer
Why do I get an 'uninstall component missing' error when I try to install or uninstall RealPlayer?
Question
Why do I get an 'uninstall component missing' error when I try to install or uninstall RealPlayer?
Answer
This document applies to:

- RealPlayer 10 and 10.5
- RealOne Player v2

When you try to install or uninstall RealPlayer or RealOne Player, if you get any kind of 'uninstall component missing' error message, even after performing a clean install of RealPlayer (uninstalling both RealPlayer and its folders), you'll need to remove the player twice, using a specific file called r1pclean. This process is also necessary if the RealPlayer doesn't open when you click on its icon.

Caution:: The r1pclean process can cause some problems. For example, using r1pclean will strip out all DRM plugins, and may require machine re-registration for secure file playback.

1. Open My Computer.
2. Double-click Local Disk (CSmile.
3. Double-click Program Files.
4. Double-click Real.
5. Double-click RealPlayer (or RealOne Player).
6. Double-click Setup.
7. Double-click .r1pclean.
8. Click Yes.
You should get the message 'Uninstaller component missing'.
9. Click OK.
10. Double-click .r1pclean again.
11. Click Yes.

This should remove the error message and allow you to reinstall the player from www.real.com or the Downloads page

http://service.real.com/realplayer/downloads/.

Very Happy

Well, I guess I found a truffle , if you ask me.

Laughing Reminds me that people are still using hog(pig?) to "hunt down" the truffle nowadays.
