The Ultimate Friend
The ultimate truth can never be seen with the naked eye
Nor touched by hand, or heard by ear - this, I say, no lie.
Reflected from within the inner soul, resides the bread of life
The silence and peace to listen will resolve any earthbound strife.
You are not here of your own device, of this you can be sure.
Always and forever remains, different yes, and pure.
Beyond accepted faculties, of what you deem is true,
Is a realm of truer fate, than this earth's destiny you drew.
Far beyond yet within your reach, is eternity.
For every journey begins within, stretching your humanity.
A test of life to be exchanged for the longest life,
Your life is your test - the truest of this earthly strife.
All other combinations or singular dismays
Will resolve themselves, for the soul that prays.
Even a seeming lack of love, for that which you pretend,
Is to discover in giving all, to your lifelong friend.
This friend, you will discover, is within your very heart.
You alone hold the key, for the greatest love to start.
Warming heart and soul, all wonderings at peace.
Questions fully answered, gaining your yokes release.
This ultimate friend is indeed, your mentor and your guide,
To the end and beyond, with you will reside.
It is your choice to give your life, to this unseen friend.
For all others first, delays the life within, its strength will never bend.
Who then is your friend, to whom you would give your all?
To lean upon the shoulders at your every beck and call?
A humbled approach to this inner friend, is this friend's request
For from thence, all of life begins a brand new life-giving quest.
Courage beyond what you thought you did not have could be your finest goal.
Rewarded with peace profound, and knowledge for the soul.
Just who is this friend that is thought to be out of reach?
It is God, my friend - the finest friend, that lives beyond hell's breach.
Greater love hath no man, or to sister or to brother,
Than to give one's life to this friend, above whom is no other.
