I hadn't thought of that, ooragnak. Proving that you're sick by buying some cough medicine & cold tablets. But what if you've already got some on the shelves at home? Would buying something else at the chemist's do?

Anyway, it's clear that employees can not be trusted to take a day of work, just like that, because they're unwell! Someone more important than them must verify their condition for the boss! Workers are such malingerers, god knows what they'd get up to if given half the chance!

My point exactly msolga.
If the boss really needs this certificate, let him pay for it and not use any medicare subsidy either.

I can see it now ....... the end of industry in Australia ...
The axing of Workchoices .....
Chemist supplied "Sick" certificates .....
What is the country coming to ? doom n gloom Ha ..

Really? (I must check out today's news)

A citizen's arrest? That's rather incredible.

sounds like they did a good job. Sat on him, tied him up and then called the cops - who didn't know who he was!

what was really interesting is the Father Xue Nai Yin is a supposed expert in martial arts and gets himself caught by a couple of citizens. Pulled down his trousers and tied his legs then tied his hands with his belt.

Apparantly he's been hiding in Houston. I never trusted the likes of shewolf and chai and them others Now I know why.

Just curious: does Macca (on a Sunday morning) drive anyone else up the wall, or is it just me?

I'm with you. My folks used to listen to him all the time and rave about him. The few times I tried to listen he struck me as a supercilious patronising bore - who really wanted to be somewhere else. Never understood the reverence the show is held in. It's not like it's the coodabeens in 1990.

Oh good! It's not only me being sacrilegious! Laughing

I find him completely insufferable! I only get to hear him "by accident" (like when I'm having a shower or something on Sunday mornings) because my dial is always on default ABC.

Yes. I agree, hinge. A supercilious patronising bore. With subtle (?) conservative Macca (not so informed) political insights thrown in for good measure! (I was delighted when Dick Smith rang in last Sunday & talked about David Hicks's situation with insight & compassion. Macca just let him go for it. Right out of his depth!)

And the way those olds defer to him! As if he's some sort of font of wisdom or something!Ughhhhhhhhhh! Mad

If I hear him say, one more time, something like: "If only the people of Sydney & Melbourne could be here now, to see this ..." Meaning real country folk, real life in the country. ("City people" aren't real, I guess, & have things really easy!).. I think I'll scream!

As for the Coodabeens ...... Enough already! They're very aptly named. Rolling Eyes

I don't have much time for Macca - listen very occasionally.

The Coodabeens - them I like!

I'm so tired of them!

First, years of them on RRR, before the swap to (Melbourne) ABC.

Followed by years of over exposure! Seemingly any time anyone at 774 is away or they need someone to fill in for a bit (be it breakfast, dinner, tea or late!) there they are again! Aghhhh!

Then I discovered one of 'em stood as an election candidate for the Liberals not so long ago. Shocked Of course, that was the straw that broke the camel's back! Laughing

The best thing about Macca is that when his shift is over (in Victoria) Helen (Razor) appears! I still have a soft spot for her & think she's pretty bright & funny. But perhaps she appears so amazingly brilliant because of what she follows?

This made me laugh out loud!

I hear the Coodabeens occasionally - when I'm driving back from Kiama. They're not as much fun as they used to be- but it's a boring trip - and the tape player in the car doesn't work; and you can't have cricket on all the time!

Macca - I'm usually playing tennis - or doing something that doesn't include radio!

True. I suppose there could be worse things (says she grudgingly) - like the ABC's Sunday night religious programs!

Just curious: anyone listen to Radio National? I usually don't (big 744 politics addiction!), but I do during the summer when the @#**! cricket takes over 774! Evil or Very Mad
Anyway, RN was kinda interesting ... ponderous but interesting, hours of it ...... till I became seriously depressed listening to a program about "the dark hour of the soul" (or something like that) in my darkened house in the middle of a terrible heat wave! Shocked You can actually have too much of that sort of super-seriosness, I learnt to my complete surprise!

I'm a cheerful person, generally - any of that is just toooo much!

And you went over there to avoid the cricket! Mad, I tell you!

I did say the coodabeens in 1990.....

The only station I listen to is Triple J (except when I flick over to RN for... THE CRICKET!!!!! or grandstand) and even then only in the car when I'm not listening to mp3s.
