This, following the scandal of the Bundaberg (sp?) surgeon. They're not exactly having a great run with these medical things in Qld! Poor old Premier Beastie seems to be apologizing, explaining endlessly on my TV news. He's beginning to look quite crumpled!
A lot of Pete's problems are of his own making. He seems to want impress the media by having answers to all questions they throw at him. In many cases, this "policy-on-the-run" is his undoing. Later he has to retract or modify what he said. I have lost count of the "backflips" he has done lately.
People soon lose confidence in a politician with foot in mouth disease. It would be much better to say cabinet was considering the options etc.
Having said that, I believe he was being unfairly targeted over the health scandal. He was let down by a government department who weren't doing their job.
Federally, I see bonzai and co are doing backflips over "oil" statements regarding Iraq. Backflipping is always a danger for politicians who want to be in the media all the time.
