In other news down under, the damage bill from the record flooding "event" in the Kimberley region is being assessed by jack-booted Labor leader Premier Mark McGowan , who stated that due to the remoteness of the region, and a difficulty in finding staff for various duties, repairs to infrastructure, including roads and bridges, "could take years" to complete.

I'd think that any reporter worth their salt, might remind Mark, that the Pilbara and Kimberleys are where the state's wealth is largely generated.

One of my colleagues is becoming naturalised today. She works on the other campus 350km away, so I can't bring anything for morning tea - instead I'm posting in Teams some of my collection of (IMHO) iconic Australian imagery. I'm sharing it with you too.

This is too true. It's the last week of summer now and it still hasn't loaded properly.

We did have a few days when it made it into the 30s, and we're expecting high 30s later this week, but right now it's cold and raining. Again.

We even had snow on the ranges a couple of weeks ago.

Sorry, but ever since I read that I've had "Snow, snow on the range, where the beery Australians play"

You can make up the next few lines or ignore the whole thing.
