True - but if God were to remove all things manmade in a fit of pique Cairns' population would exceed Cheshire's very quickly (though I can't be certain where I rather be should she try it).

Very odd colour sky pre-dawn here - eerily yellow - off to BOM.

Bootlace you write the greatest lot of codswallop I've ever read on these threads. Your comments make no sense at all. Take a leaf out of msolga's book, she is by far the most eloquent and best debater on A2K. Go back and stick your head in the sand as apparently you can't being told you're wrong! My one and only comment to you!

Hello Dutchy.
My comments make no sense at all ? At least you might have elaborated a little.
I can tell by the tone of your post that you appear infatuated with msolga's
ability as a debater, and as such I would expect your posts to be biased.

@msolga,
My intention was not to shout, but as I said at the start of the post
I didn't know how to use these quote boxes inside a post.
Quote:
I asked you to about your response to his words. A few times now, I think.
No go.

I did actually .... three times ...
And you also ignored your own post ....

I think he eventually said it was idiotic to put those comments

Well by inference, if you do something idiotic, you are an idiot. No?
Quotes from my posts

I agree with msolga in that it was idiotic to put those comments
on the Australian flag.

And yes his comments may have been idiotic, insensitive and inflammatory

Idiotic maybe, but not racist.

I understand you have some concerns about Muslims & sharia law & their intention to "take over the world" ... ?
I think that's about as close to an answer that I'll get.

Yes that's correct.

Looks like I have had some luck with quote boxes.

Yes.....but with Gina ******* Rinehart (is that how you spell it?) taking over Fairfax......we will likely end up more like the US in ways we don't like.

True, but that doesn't mean that we'll like what we learn about who is donating to our political parties & why, though ... Neutral

Independent MP Rob Oakeshott says new figures released from the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) give voters a reason to be cynical about Australia's democracy.

The data reveals the spending of tobacco companies, the mining industry and clubs as they fought to reverse government policy in the past financial year.

It shows the ALP and the Liberal and National parties raked in more than $200 million in donations.

"Based on these figures of 2011, many, I think, are questioning whether the real contest in Australia is ALP versus LNP or really just what we are seeing is a contest of $90 million versus $113 million," Mr Oakeshott said. .....

Nothing to do with anything we've been discussing here.
I'm posting this story because I love it!
Is this a unique situation?
Good onya Ken Grenda, you are a gem!
I'll nominate you for Australian of the Year. Smile

Bus company boss gives millions to staff
By Stephanie March
Updated February 01, 2012 19:09:43/ABC news online

The outgoing owner of a Melbourne bus company has rewarded staff with cash gifts totalling tens of millions of dollars.

When Ken Grenda sold his bus company for $400 million, he wanted to thank his almost 2,000 staff members for their hard work.

The amount given to each staff member is based on their length of service.

Some workers received more than $100,000 each.

The owner's son and the company's managing director, Scott Grenda, says his father was sad to sell the business and wanted to express his gratitude to staff.

"You know we've got employees that stretch over 40 years so it is a pretty nice thing to do," he said.

One bus driver, John, says Ken Grenda has been a great man to work for.

"He is a generous person and a true gentleman," he told ABC local radio.

The company has been bought by transport operator Ventura.

@msolga,
Compare the way that Ken Grenda has treated his employees to Westpac.
Could be making an even bigger profit for the shareholders, apparently. Neutral

560 jobs to go at Westpac
By Sue Lannin and staff?ABC news online
Updated February 02, 2012 17:38:19

The Finance Sector Union (FSU) claims that 560 jobs are set to go at Westpac Bank, with 150 of those roles going offshore.

The union says the departments affected by the job cuts are technical services, administration, legal, retail and business banking and administration.

FSU national secretary Leon Carter says it is a disgrace.

"These are the hardworking bank workers who are behind the scenes making sure that settlements occur and that people can buy and rent houses, and this is an organisation that continues to make a multi-billion-dollar annual profit," he said.

Mr Carter says the bank has an obligation and capacity to retain all the jobs and keep them in Australia.

He says sacked Westpac workers will struggle to find re-employment in the sector.

"Times are tough out there and the only people who aren't doing it tough are big banks like Westpac that are making multi-billion-dollar annual profits," he said.

"Rather than do the right thing by their workforce, their reward is only about making more money for their shareholders at the expense of Australians." ....<cont>

Amazing story msolga, a thorough gentleman, who certainly deserves to be Australian of the year, instead of some actor living overseas. LOL

msolga, I am a "newby" too, and I don't know a rats azz about you other than you be a lovely person, I am therefore wondering how another "newby" thinks he/she knows you so well and jumps on your thread and gives me a headache, trying to read a million "quotes" un-quoted? And, disects you and tells you who you are? How is that?

@Dutchy,
Yep, I just love that story, Dutchy! Smile

What is extraordinary is that an employer actually acknowledges that his employees efforts contributed to him becoming very wealthy. By rewarding them financially & by treating them with the respect they deserve..

It's very sad that that's so unusual ... it's stating the obvious.

(As for Geoffry Rush being Australian of the Year this time around ... I actually approve.
He's a brilliant actor & a terrific ambassador for Oz.

Plus, he's an activist locally. He has been a very active participant in the campaign against over-development in Melbourne (which is quite out of control). Specifically in his local community. And I'm grateful to him for that.
Though, not living in Melbourne, there's no way you could know that.)

But yes, by all means, Ken Grenda for next year's Australian of the Year! Whatta guy! Very Happy

Gosh, I don't know, FS!
Maybe the newbie is not a newbie at all, or has had a bad reaction to my posts, or has an "agenda"?
Trying to figure out such things could be the ruin of a person, though. Best not to.Wink

Yes, I think he's a terrific actor.
So good in such a diverse range of roles.

Here he is, (front row left) in his protester role, opposing innapropriate development in Camberwell (Melbourne).
Front row right, of course, is Barry Humphries ... this is what he looks like when he's not being Dame Edna Everage.

G’day Sheila’s and mates, I was wondering if as the thread title boldly asserts you could answer any of the following; then all will be apples…

Why is former Victorian police sergeant Denis Tanner a free man if the Victorian state coroner named him as the killer of his sister-in-law, Jennifer Tanner?

Did Greg Domaszewicz really kill Jaidyn Leskie and get away with it because he had a good lawyer?

What was the real cause of the sudden death of young nursing sister Birgit Munro when 24 hours before she died she'd been 'as fit as a flea'?

Why did West Australian alleged hit-run killer John Button confess to killing his fiancée Rosemary Anderson if he didn't do it?

Why won't Bradley John Murdoch tell the police where he hid Peter Falconio's body?

Why did a juror in Graham Stafford's trial call Stafford's mother - after reading a book containing the full story of the murder Stafford had allegedly committed - to apologise for finding her son guilty?

Was Roseanne Catt, who served a ten-year jail term in New South Wales for the attempted murder of her husband Barry 'an evil and manipulative woman or the victim of a terrible conspiracy' between her husband and the police?

Did Henry Keogh cold-bloodedly drown his fiancée in her bath, or has he served nearly half his life sentence as an innocent man, condemned by an incompetent forensic report?

Why do people from Queensland call termites ‘white ants’, but they're not ants, in fact not even closely related to ants?

No need to spit the dummy; all replies will be treated in the strictest confidence.

@Tryagain,
Er because there hasn't been a trial and conviction or the crown don't think they have sufficient evidence.

Possibly. Only he really knows, I guess.

Never heard of Birgit Munro.

**** knows.

Because he likes to **** with people or because he's hoping to launch an appeal.

**** knows.

Damned if I have a clue.

The Keogh case is interesting. The South Australian forensic service doesn't have a good reputation, whether fairly or unfairly I can't really judge...so I guess it's possible. He's certainly maintaining his innocence.

People from many places call them white ants. It's because they look like white ants until you look closely.
