The perfect man and the perfect girl
On the Internet it was a perfect world
But reality flashed it's fickle face
Our love faded and misery took it's place
What lies get weaved
what fools are deceived
by a love that's born online?
One heart gets scarred
when the other turns hard
and one gets left behind
Can they be real
these emotions we feel
the words we whisper to one another?
Why are we blind
to the pain we'll find
when the affair ends like every other?
Can it be true
that the past is through
and should I now forge ahead?
Or shall I turn back
to cover my track
and become cautious instead?
To think today
in some strange way
was the future of my past
When will I learn
from old bridges burned
this love does not last?
Forever trusting in a world that's cold and cruel
The perfect man is no more than a perfect fool
Well said, apoeticinjustice, really well said!
great poem. You really capture the insecurity and uncertainty in actions. Never been involved in those online romances, though I'm sure they can be just as painful as ones where you meet in the flesh.
thanks Jackie and saintabby, I appreciate your comments. Online love....sigh....if nothing else, it's a great stimulant for my muse.
great poem.....i agree...it captures the insecurity and uncertainty in actions....I too have not had online romance- at least one that began online. But i do know how you can get lost in forged emotions over the net, and how real life slaps you in the face when you return. I thought your poem was well said. Thank you for sharing
thanks kendrajean, I appreciate your response
