Who plays what? Any TFC'ers here?
I've played several multiplayer fps games over the years but have mainly played Team Fortress Classic. The game it self is 5 yrs old and seems to be on it's last leg as far as players/community size.
I'm curious to see what other people are playing these days.
never really got into TFC, however was addicted to Counter-Strike for quite a few years. I kicked the addiction about a year or two ago, but now that HL2 is out im getting back into CS: Source.
Cant beat playing in a small LAN. i remember my first real LAN party, Frag Fest 2, with around 40-50 people all in one room. So satisfying to kill a terrorist from halfway across the map with a colt only to hear the guy right opposite you throw his headphones down in disgust and start swearing at "those damn CTs".
I tried CS several times but never really got into it. Something about TFC got me hooked, and I've been playing it since it came out. Not so much these days, but I did play for about 4 yrs.
Enemy Territory has got a new mod out that was released Jan. 15th that is a team fortress type mod, but it plays and looks a lot like q3f. I wasn't really into quake all that much either.
I have yet to make it to any type of lan, but if the oppurtunity was there, I'd be all over it.
You cant beat a good LAN party, ive been to a couple, started off at a fairly local 50 person LAN, then move donto the serious stuff, the i-series LAN events in newbury. Made it to i8, i10 and i12. i10 was the largest with 1,000 gamers, and 800 at the others I think. It was a really great experience being surrounded by fellow gamers for a long weekend. 4 days of nearly non-stop gaming, stopping only to consume pizza and drink beer and coke, now thats a weekend!
Never got into TFC. Im not a great fan of FPS games, however I did like Half-Life. the rest was just mindless running round shooting everything in sight while Half-Life had a decent plot to it and made you think from time to time. I guess thats why I hated TFC, to me it was just running around blasting everyone in sight with little tactics. CS on the other hand was a much slower game, die and your out, so you played more tactically and each kill was far more satisfying.
I neve really played any other FPS apart from Max Payne. Tried Quake / Wolfenstein / IGI / Deus Ex etc but got bored of them after a while.
Im more into the strategy and simulation games myself.
