Father


You've led me down many roads
And never left my side.
The complexities of human nature
Is the reason that You hide.

Embracing with open arms, the yoke of captivity,
Self-reliance of my faith was the precious key,
That unlocked the door to freedom
Preparing me for Your everlasting kingdom.

You set my feet at the gate between heaven and hell
And I choose not, my place in human destiny.
The furnace of Your spirit, made my soul of purest gold.
All I am or hope to be, will, someday, be told.

I only wish to live in peace with You
And perfect harmony
With joy the springboard to the heavens above
Surrounded - as I know now - with Your perfect love.

I've only one unconquered foe, or so it seems to appear -
That of patience with myself, towards my fellow man.
Not so much of them, Father, even they do not hear,
But with knowledge of Your reality, and how You helped me stand.

With this strong desire - to help others their freedom to be unfurled -
That Freedom is what life is all about - this You've helped me see -
And little by little, opening the window to the world,
With their lives in their own hands, true life is in Your captivity.

To be captive yet still free, is not so strange as it sounds.
Thank you Father, for all the former is passed away,
Into the realm of memory, and the future having no bounds,
Waits this moment - eternity fresh anew, each and every day.

Looking back, the roads weren't really all that bad -
- Though sometimes they take my breath away -
Because You being right there with me, Lord,
Makes Your "yoke" seem rather like play.

Life's experiences and trials, and following Your word,
Looking back, further still, I reminisce with deepest awe
You were there at every turn - some seemingly absurd -
Today's application of reality, with You in the midst of it all.

I know I can never repay the love that You've given me,
But the beginnings started long ago, continuing to this very day,
And the joy of my lowly rapture in trying, will last for eternity.

So here is my life to You Father - in each and every way.
