hi there,
I have installed many programs and when i try to open them, an error message box comes up saying:
c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application.
Does anyone know what this means? It comes up on many programs i have tried to open, and this message stops the program from starting. It gets very annoying especially after ive took the time to download the program on this slow internet connection only to find that it won't work, and instead this message comes up instead.
Can anyone please help me out here, i appreciate it alot if you can.
Hi Shaunzo101
The autoexec.nt file needs to be replaced.
You can copy this file from your Windows XP cd.
Go to a command prompt (Start/Run/cmd), making sure your cd is in the drive.
Then type in:
expand d:\i386\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32\autoexec.net
(note that I am @ssuming your cd drive is "d", if not then subsitute with the correct drive letter, also note that there is a space before c:\.....)
Press enter after you type in the command and you should see the file being copied.
If it does not copy, try this command:
expand c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
Let us know how you make out
Yep thats seemed to fix up the problem, now the program works
Thanks alot for your help
