Web Server / PHP / Windows Update

I'd like to set up my own web server, and set a domain to link to my IP, and I can get the domain and the redirection set up on my own, but what I can't find is the correct web server program to get it set up. Does anyone know a site that I could go to, to find this program, and possibly some directions for it? I can get the site set up, but the server is a different matter? If at ALL possible, I'd like a web server program that will support me using PHP on my computer. That bring me to my next topic.

I don't know if it's against the rules to put more than one question in a post, but I'm going to try anyways.

I've been searching around the web looking for a tutorial on PHP, but can't seem to find a good, free one. Any help here would be awesomely awesome.

My computer's running 2K pro, base install, and I want to update to SP4. When I tried to do an update, it got about 15% of the way into it, but then stopped, and told me that it couldn't overwrite a driver file (atapi.inf). My CD-RW is Atapi, so I figured that must have been what was causing the problem. When I unplugged the drive, to see if, since the drive wasn't plugged in, it wouldn't load the driver for it, it would update, it still had trouble, but wasn't giving me the same error message. This time it wasn't giving me an error message at all. I had my firewalls and antivirus diasbled, and even tried to update in safe mode with network connections (I'm on DSL with a router). Still no luck...

My computer's been running slow, and that's why I was trying to update. I figured that if I updated, maybe it would run more efficiently. Does anyone have any tips or know of any sites with tips on how to improve performance on 2K pro? If my only option is to re-format, that won't be much of a problem, since I'm getting my CPU soon, and then I'll have a whole new computer. I've been told that using an already-installed OS with all new hardware is a very risky thing to try, and you could have to re-format anyways, so I figure I'll just re-format from the start, and then it won't be a problem.

Again, any help with any of these problems would be greatly appreciated.

You should ask those questions separately and in the appropriate forums, not because it's a rule but because it makes sense if you want people to help you (e.g some of your questions are things people in the computer forum could help you with).

Another reason to split it up is because it's more daunting this way. Case in point: I will only touch on one of the questions.

Re: web server

Apache is the server most commonly used with PHP.

IIS is the server most commonly used with the Windows operating system.

You can run PHP with either on windows, but computer newbies will likely have a great deal of difficulty doing so.

The easiest way I know is to use this:

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/

It's a package that installs apache, php, mysql, perl and more.

It's meant for developers (i.e. to test their scripts locally) and not for use as an actual server but may suit your purposes.
