I Couldn't Resist(song)

I once wrote a song about
The way you broke my heart
Now it haunts me

I wrote the song to help me heal
Thought that it could help me deal
And free me

My head won't clear and
My soul can't glide; I need a little help
With my pride

I couldn't resist.
Stuck the capo on my guitar
And started playing something like this

But it don't help; the memories fade
It don't help; no matter how it's played
It don't help; that you're still gone
It don't help; the pain goes on and on and on

I even tried some new loves on
To see if they would fit
As good as you and I

Tried to find a love
Like ours, felt so guilty about
how I misled them

The night would come
And damn it all
If you weren't there; to break my fall

I couldn't resist.
Thought that I was ready to give
But alas something was amiss

They didn't help; the memories fade
They didn't help; they were just delayed
They didn't help; you're still the one
They didn't help; the pain goes on and on and on

So what am I suppose to do
When this song is over
Like me and you

All the stars in Nashville
Couldn't find a song as painful
Or half as true

The drinking songs have dried up
Heartbreak tunes they made up
Couldn't bring you back

I couldn't resist.
So I got my pen and paper
And wrote down something like this

But it won't help; the memories fade
It won't help; my hit parade
It won't help; when I'm alone
It won't help; the pain goes on and on and on

Brand X, Really good. Wish I could hear the melody.

(ditch the capo, however. Razz )

Very moving. I chose to leave a relationship once, a man I was living with.... who wrote a song very much in this vein, and played for me at our final parting. I felt so bad for his pain, but I had to save myself. All the sad songs in the world couldn't change things. Oh my, life can be so unfair. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Crying or Very sad

Thanks all!

Letty, what are your thoughts on the 'capo'?

Brand X, You need to learn the chord changes and the keys without a capo. It's sort of a cheat sheet. As for me, I couldn't play a guitar if the strings were automatic. Smile

<smile> I play piano by ear, too, Brand X. The fact that you use a capo doesn't detract one bit from that lovely song.
