Who is your favorite?
I will start, by saying: Ken Done & David Bromley

hmmm -I will need to consider this - off the top of my head, Russell Drysdale (some), Sidney Nolan, Margaret Preston, this is too hard - I cannot think of most of the people I like - and I have not even begun to think of Aboriginal artists/art groups.
here is a website:

small sampling of young Oz artists - Sydney/Melbourne only, as usual!

I love Whiteley's Sydney Harbour paintings, too, margo. Also his paintings of his studio.
He was a brilliant draughtsman. Suggested so much with a few deft strokes. I saw a brilliant series of drawings of his, years ago, which showed Francis Bacon's facial expressions as he & Whitely conducted a lengthy conversation. A huge pile of big pen & ink drawings on rice paper.
I would love to add some links of other Oz artists, edithdoll, but tonight's not the night for that - for some reason my computer is REALLY SLOW tonight - sites taking ages to download. I'll try again another time when things are better.
Oh, I like Peter Booth's paintings a lot, too.
Here's an artist from the 40's I'm very partial to - Joy Hester ... Love her expressive portraits.

How many of the Aussies realise that Rolf Harris is actually the most famous living artist on earth?
Oh dear goddess - I consider him a Brit now- they have had him for fifty years!
Actually my favourite artist is my brother.
No, just don't have time do it myself Deb.
I posted one of his drawings on the realm. I don't know if you could still see it.
Margo -- Took a long time for me to load. I don't know try a yahoo search for him, and maybe go in through their link?
Wilso -- My favorite artist (in general) is my mum.
Does this include any kind of artist? Because I've always liked AC/DC.
Beautifully crafted drawing, Wilso.
He's got heaps Deb. His eye for detail is incredible.
